Lip Fillers: 7 Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Are you thinking about getting lip fillers but still have questions? For example, about pain, swelling, recovery, or how natural the results will look? That’s perfectly normal when you’re considering fillers for the first time. In this blog post, we’ll answer the most frequently asked questions about lip fillers so you know what to expect.

Comfort
1. Is a lip filler painful?
The lips are sensitive, so the procedure isn’t completely painless. We apply numbing cream beforehand, and the hyaluronic acid that’s injected often contains lidocaine as well. As a result, most clients mainly feel some pressure or brief pricks.
The treatment itself is relatively short. Are you nervous about injections? Please feel free to let us know during your appointment. That way, we can take that into account during the treatment.
Recovery
2. How long will the swelling last after a lip filler treatment?
Immediately after the procedure, your lips are usually swollen. This is a normal part of the healing process and does not mean that your lips will remain that size permanently.
Most of the swelling subsides within 24 to 48 hours. You may also develop temporary bruising. Give your lips some time to fully recover: you can usually get a better idea of the final result after about a week to ten days.
Tip: It’s best not to schedule your first lip filler treatment right before a wedding, photo shoot, or other important event. That way, you’ll give any swelling or bruising plenty of time to subside.

Daily Life
3. Can I go to work as usual after a lip filler treatment?
Generally speaking, yes. Lip fillers don’t require a long recovery time, and most people can quickly resume their daily activities.
Just keep in mind that swelling may be visible for the first few days. Do you have an important appointment where you’d rather not show up with swollen lips? If so, it’s a good idea to schedule your treatment a little earlier.
Result
4. When will I see the final results of the lip filler?
You’ll notice a difference right after the treatment, but this isn’t the final result yet. Due to the swelling, your lips may initially appear fuller or slightly different in shape than they will eventually be.
Once the swelling has subsided and your lips have settled, you’ll be able to better assess the results. So don’t just go by what you see in the mirror right after the treatment.

Of course
5. How can you prevent lip fillers from looking unnatural?
More filler doesn’t automatically mean a better result. At Aepril Clinics, we consider the shape of your lips, your facial proportions, and the result you want to achieve.
Sometimes the goal is to add volume, but a lip filler can also be used to refine the contour or improve certain proportions of the lips. Are you looking mainly for hydration and not extra volume? Then Lip Hydration be a treatment worth exploring further.
At Aepril, our guiding principle is that the treatment should be tailored to your face—not that every lip should have the same shape.
Correction
6. What if I don’t like the result?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if necessary. Of course, prevention is better than correction. That’s why, before treatment, we’ll clearly discuss your wishes and what results are achievable.
Are you unsure about anything after the treatment? If so, please contact us instead of jumping to conclusions while your lips are still swollen, for example.

Long-lasting results
7. How long does a lip filler last?
Lip fillers do not provide permanent results: hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body over time. How long the results last varies from person to person, but generally lasts 6 to 12 months. The amount of filler used and how your body breaks down the product also play a role in this.
Would you like to maintain the results? If so, you can discuss with your practitioner at a later time to determine when follow-up treatment would be appropriate.
Rates
How much does lip filler cost?
The cost depends, among other things, on the amount of filler needed for your treatment. You don’t need to decide in advance how many milliliters you’ll need. We’ll discuss that based on your lips and the desired result.
On our rates page, you’ll find the current prices, so you’ll know what to expect in advance.
