Lip Hydration
What is lip hydration?
Are your lips often dry, are fine lines more noticeable, or have they lost their supple appearance? With a Lip Hydration treatment, we focus on the hydration and skin quality of your lips, without aiming to add extra volume.
The doctor injects small amounts of hyaluronic acid into the lips. This helps retain moisture and can smooth out fine lines. The result is a subtle improvement, while preserving the natural shape of your lips as much as possible.
Difference Between Lip Hydration and Lip Fillers
With a standard lip filler treatment , the focus is often on adding volume, creating a more defined contour, or adjusting the shape of the lips. Lip Hydration, on the other hand, is all about the condition of your lips. You should choose this treatment if you’re primarily looking for softer, smoother, and better-hydrated lips.
Are you unsure which treatment to choose? During a consultation, we’ll assess the shape of your lips, your skin quality, and your preferences. Lip Hydration might be right for you, but a filler treatment could also better achieve the results you’re looking for.
What does hyaluronic acid do for your lips?
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in your body and can bind water. At Aepril Clinics, we use high-quality hyaluronic acid-based products to improve the hydration and appearance of the lips.
Instead of making your lips noticeably fuller, we focus on achieving a supple texture and softening fine lines. How your lips respond to the treatment depends, among other things, on their current condition.
When is Lip Hydration right for you?
Lip Hydration may be a good choice if you:
- You have dry or dehydrated lips that feel less supple.
- I want to reduce fine lines around my lips.
- You want a subtle look, without adding too much volume.
- You want to maintain your natural lip shape.
Are your lips mainly temporarily dry due to cold weather, licking your lips, or irritating lip care products? If so, regular lip care may be enough. An injection treatment isn’t necessary for every type of dry lips. That’s why the doctor will first discuss exactly what you’d like to improve.

How do you book a Lip Hydration treatment?
Would you like to know if Lip Hydration is right for your lips? You can easily schedule an appointment online or contact us by phone. During the consultation, you’ll discuss with the doctor what you’d like to change and what you’d like to keep.
The doctor will examine your lips, discuss the options, and explain what results are realistic. The costs and any potential risks will also be discussed in advance. This will allow you to make an informed decision.
How does the treatment work?
The doctor injects small amounts of hyaluronic acid into the surface layer of the lips using fine needles. The treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes. We use numbing cream to make the injections as comfortable as possible.
After the treatment, you can resume your daily activities right away. Your lips may be temporarily swollen or sensitive, however. Be sure to follow the aftercare instructions, especially if you have an important appointment shortly afterward.

Results
When will you see results from Lip Hydration?
The effects of Lip Hydration become apparent in the weeks following the treatment. You may notice the first changes right away, but keep in mind that your lips may also be a little swollen at first.
Immediately after treatment
The initial results are visible right away. Due to temporary swelling, your lips may initially look slightly fuller than the final result.
After 2 to 4 weeks
The full effect is usually visible by then. The hydrating treatment has been absorbed into the tissue by that point, and you can better assess how smooth and supple your lips look.
After 6 to 12 months
The results can last 6 to 12 months. How long they last for you depends, among other things, on your skin type and lifestyle. During a follow-up visit, we can discuss whether and when a follow-up treatment would be advisable.

Aftercare
What should you keep in mind after using Lip Hydration?
After the treatment, you can resume your daily activities right away. Your lips may be temporarily sensitive or swollen for the first few days. You may also notice small bruises at the injection sites.
To allow your lips to heal as gently as possible, we recommend the following:
- Avoid touching or massaging the treated area unnecessarily.
- Do not apply makeup or cream to the treated area during the first 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous physical activity during the first 24 hours.
- Wait two weeks before using saunas, other sources of heat, or undergoing cosmetic or beauty treatments.
- Schedule your free checkup at the front desk or contact us to set one up.
Do you have questions about the repair, or are you dissatisfied with the result? Please contact us. We’d be happy to help you resolve the issue. You can find additional information about agreements and terms and conditions on our terms and conditions page.
Safety
Are there any risks or side effects associated with Lip Hydration?
Lip Hydration is an injection-based treatment. As a result, you may experience temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising. These reactions usually go away on their own. As with other injection treatments, infections or hypersensitivity reactions are also possible.
A rare but serious complication of injectable hyaluronic acid is a blood vessel blockage. That is why it is important that the treatment be performed by a doctor who is familiar with the anatomy of the lips and can recognize and treat potential complications.
Discuss any allergies, medications you are taking, previous filler treatments, and recurring cold sores beforehand. If you suddenly experience severe pain, blanching, or noticeable discoloration of the skin after the treatment, contact the treating physician immediately. If you experience facial paralysis or other acute, serious symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.

Why Choose Lip Hydration at Aepril Clinics?
Lip Hydration isn’t about injecting as much product as possible. It’s about what your lips need and what result suits your face. That’s why we discuss with you beforehand whether you’re primarily looking for more hydration, want to reduce fine lines, or are seeking a change in volume.
Our doctors work meticulously and tailor the treatment to the shape of your lips and your preferences. In doing so, we not only explain what is possible, but also when a different treatment—or, conversely, no injection treatment at all—might be a wiser choice.
Are you torn between lip hydration and lip fillers?
You don’t need to know exactly which treatment you need beforehand. Do you mainly feel that your lips look dry, or would you like a little more shape and definition? During the consultation, the doctor will examine your lips and discuss what best suits your needs. You’ll receive clear information in advance about the treatment, the costs, and the expected results.
