Mounjaro is one of the newest and most talked about agents for medical weight loss. Originally developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, it has since been recognized as an effective weight management agent as well. At Aepril Clinics, we offer Mounjaro as part of a personally supervised medical weight loss program.

Medical weight loss with injections
What is Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, an injectable drug that activates two hormone receptors simultaneously: GLP-1 and GIP. This dual mechanism of action makes it unique from other GLP-1 agents such as Ozempic or Wegovy. Because both receptors are stimulated, satiety is stronger, appetite is more suppressed and blood sugar management is more effective.
Mounjaro treatment at Aepril
How does Mounjaro work?
Mounjaro is self-injected once a week, usually in the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. The drug works in several ways: it slows stomach emptying so you are full longer, it reduces appetite through the brain center that regulates hunger and satiety, and it stabilizes blood sugar levels. As a result, you eat less, have fewer cravings and slowly but surely lose weight.

Significant weight loss
What are the expected results?
Clinical studies show that tirzepatide leads to significant weight loss averaging 15 to 22 percent of body weight over a 72-week period. This is significantly more than most other available agents. Results vary by individual and are greatest when combined with a healthy diet and exercise regimen.
