How do these resources work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ozempic and Wegovy both contain semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. They mimic the hormone GLP-1 that occurs naturally in your body and is involved in the regulation of appetite, blood sugar and satiety. Ozempic is registered for type 2 diabetes, Wegovy specifically for weight management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mounjaro contains tirzepatide and acts on both the GLP-1 receptor and the GIP receptor. GIP is another gut hormone involved in insulin production and fat metabolism. This dual mechanism of action makes Mounjaro unique and, in clinical studies, leads to greater weight loss than semaglutide alone. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Which drug gives the most weight loss?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Large clinical studies show that tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, leads to higher weight loss on average than semaglutide. On average, people lose 15 to 22 percent<\/strong> of their body weight with Mounjaro, compared with an average of 12 to 15 percent with Wegovy. But the final choice depends on more than effectiveness. <\/p>\n<\/div>
